The UP government has opened the doors for the expansion of the metro network in Greater Noida West by approving the Aqua Line extension, a move expected to significantly boost both residential space and commercial space development in the region. The construction of the metro track from Noida Sector 71 to Knowledge Park-V will be completed in two phases. In the first phase, the metro will operate on a 9.6 km long route from Sector 71 to Sector 2, Greater Noida, directly benefiting more than one lakh residents living in Greater Noida West. The population in this area is increasing rapidly as builders in Noida Extension are delivering possession of their residential projects, creating strong demand for well-connected residential spaces and nearby commercial spaces.
To address the growing need for smooth transportation supporting expanding housing and business hubs, the authority has decided to connect Greater Noida West with Noida and the NCR through the metro network. The total budget for this project is ₹1,521 crore, of which the Noida Authority and Central Government will contribute ₹1,286 crore, while the Greater Noida Authority will bear ₹235 crore. The proposed route will pass through Noida Sector 71, Sector 120, Sector 123, Greater Noida West Sector 4, Sector 16B, and Sector 2, strengthening connectivity for upcoming residential spaces, retail zones, and commercial developments.
In the second phase, a 14.95 km metro track will be constructed from Sector 2 to Knowledge Park-V, further enhancing accessibility to institutional areas, IT hubs, and emerging commercial spaces. As per sources, the Uttar Pradesh government is expected to grant final approval after Cabinet clearance. Once approved, construction will begin within three months, and the Aqua Line Metro Extension project is tentatively expected to be completed within three years, giving a major push to real estate growth across both residential and commercial segments in Greater Noida West.
